A toy and a book in one, this large, chunky board book comes with a
wind-up toy steam train and four slot-together tracks. Children can

track. A fantastic gift for young train enthusiasts.

This book describes for researchers in the fields of compiler
technology, design and test, and electronic design automation the
new area of digital microfluidic biochips (DMBs), and thus offers a
new application area for their methods. The authors present
a routing-based model of operation execution, along with several
associated compilation approaches, which progressively relax the
assumption that operations execute inside fixed rectangular
modules. Since operations can experience transient faults
during the execution of a bioassay, the authors show how to use
both offline (design time) and online (runtime) recovery
strategies. The book also presents methods for the synthesis of
fault-tolerant application-specific DMB architectures.
·        Presents
the current models used for the research on compilation and
synthesis techniques of DMBs in a tutorial fashion;
·        Includes
a set of “benchmarksâ€, which are presented in great detail and
includes the source code of most of the techniques presented,
including solutions to the basic compilation and synthesis
problems;
·       Â
Discusses several new research problems in detail, using numerous
examples.
This brief explores the concept of moral leadership in
organizations. Specifically, it examines ways in which companies
can strengthen their reputation in the market and increase
performance by taking leading positions in the realm of business
ethics. It presents research from top scholars of Eastern Europe
contemplating the future of our global information and knowledge
society. How will the economic power nexuses of the world shift in
the foreseeable future? Are we becoming so interconnected and at
the same time divided that social capital (together with business
integrity and customer feedback) may matter more than money and
resources? How will education and creativity bridge the shrinking
gap between producers and consumers? Such questions and many more
are tackled by this brief. In the current global economy, we have
never before been more tightly-knit and never before has it been
easier to distribute goods as well as ideologies. However, in the
global marketplace we are only as good as our word, or our
reputation, proves to be. Integrity studies by Transparency
International show a correlation between corruption and national
threat and lists corruption among the most harmful factors to
impact local and regional economies. Therefore, successful
businesses cannot afford to simply remain materially successful;
they have to consider their community impact and become moral
leaders before they can be world leaders in their respective field.
Featuring innovative tools, recommendations, case studies and
checklists, this brief will be of interest to students, academics,
scholars, practitioners and policymakers alike in the fields of
leadership, corporate governance, business ethics and corporate
social responsibility.
This volume explores the value of business integrity and ethics as
a "best practice" model in business strategy. The authors define
business integrity, explore areas in which integrity is often
absent or discredited, and provide a framework and tools to help
build better business ethics and corporate social responsibility.
The volume aims to reveal that beyond the immediate economic
effect, corruption can ruin entire countries by destabilizing key
economic and political players, warping their vision for state
development. Against the backdrop of global financial and ethical
crises, the authors argue that integrity in business is a key
component for long-term success. Integrity includes the ability to
be consistent with one's moral values and principles and places
society's wishes at the center of business decision-making. The
cornerstone upon which a culture of integrity is built within a
certain business is the ethics code. It explicitly states the
values and principles to which a company adheres. The continuous
promotion, support and communication of the ethics code
stipulations provide the basis upon which integrity in business is
built. Featuring case studies from countries such as Sweden, Great
Britain and France and companies such Starbucks, Nike, PSEG, and
Anglo-American PLC, this volume provides a comprehensive study of
business integrity and social responsibility that will be of
interest to students, scholars, professionals and policy-makers
from around the world.

Warning: The recommended dose of these stories is four or five in
one sitting, or possibly more if you are a very stoic person.
Overdosing may cause such side effects as dizziness, chest and
abdominal pains, shortness of breath, watery eyes, and extensive
laughter. Reactions will vary depending on your sense of humor and
possibly your body weight, though I can't see how that would affect
anything significantly. From the humorist who unofficially dubbed
himself an 'emulator of the inimitable style of Patrick McManus'
comes a premier collection of short stories. Forty delightful and
insightful anecdotes about life in general fill these pages, told
through the eyes of a cynical, witty, and outdoors-loving country
hick writer named Matt Lauser. His friends liven things up, a
colorful bunch of characters ranging from the smart-alecky young
Stretch Wheenie to the obtuse older Stretch Wheenie he becomes. And
you can never forget Jesse Sawyer, an odorous mountain man who
introduces the loveable hero to hunting, fishing, and camping.
Matt's rough country ways clash with the finer manners of
city-dwellers in amusing conflicts, and his time in school is
anything but boring, despite what he might tell you. The contents
of this book should be taken like aspirin...a few at a time to
relieve the occasional stress-induced headache. Comic Relief should
be instant.
America, 1849. It was a time of great change, as the nation
expanded westward and grew richer and more powerful. But beneath
what we all know lurked darker things, events that even now are
hardly mentioned, and certainly not in our school history books. A
girl, who spent twelve years of her life in an insane asylum,
doesn't care about what happens beyond the small world she knows.
She's been convinced that she is the only one who can see the
ghosts. Broken by torture and maltreatment, she's ready to accept
that she really is crazy. When she siezes a chance to escape, she
finds herself alone in a harsh and frightening world, a young woman
with the mind of a child. When all she knows is rejection, and with
no idea where to go, can she find even one person who will care for
her?
The Cloud Security Rules explains the different aspects of cloud
security to business leaders, CxO's, IT-managers and decision
makers. The security principles are the same as before while the
implementation and the risks involved are dramatically changed. The
book is co-authored by some of the most recognized security
specialists and bloggers in the world. The authors are gathered
from USA, Europe and Africa, sharing their great knowledge of
implementing and securing the cloud. This book is made to help it
easier for you to choose the right cloud supplier as well as
setting up and running your critical services in the cloud.
Questions you will find answers about include: - Do I have to
accept that standard SLA? - What should an SLA include? - What
standards should I be paying attention to, if any? - How do I treat
mobile workers, and how do they fit into the cloud? - Do I really
need to care about logging? - Many more Since the cloud computing
is global, you risk using service providers in other countries than
your own - even if you only operate in your own country. The Cloud
Security Rules aims at helping you understand the risks involved,
and help you determine the best strategy for your organization.
